The DestinationOur inaugural Away Journey in August 2026 invites you to discover the lush, untamed beauty of the Azores - a hidden gem set in the heart of the Atlantic. This breathtaking archipelago of nine volcanic islands feels worlds away, with its dramatic coastlines, cascading waterfalls, and hillsides painted in blooming hydrangeas.
We’ll be based in Ponta Delgada, the vibrant gateway to São Miguel, where each day brings a new blend of adventure and awe, from soaking in natural hot springs to taking in panoramic views that feel almost surreal. Rich in culture yet refreshingly unspoiled, the Azores offer a rare kind of escape, one that feels both grounding and exhilarating.
And the best part? This tropical retreat is just a quick five-hour flight from Boston, closer than you think, yet unlike anywhere you’ve been before.
Day One - August 26Arrive & Explore
As you arrive, take time to settle in, unwind, and ease into the rhythm of island life. This is where the journey begins - where unfamiliar faces quickly turn into travel companions.
Once you’ve had a chance to refresh, we’ll step out to explore the charm and character of Ponta Delgada alongside a local guide. Together, we’ll wander through the heart of the city, discovering its rich history, vibrant culture, and scenic beauty at a relaxed, unhurried pace.
As the day unfolds, we’ll gather for our first shared meal, an opportunity to connect, savor local flavors, and raise a glass to the unforgettable experiences ahead.
Day Two - August 27Discover the Island
One of the most magical things about island life is how much beauty exists within such a small, accessible space and today, we’ll experience it all.
We’ll set out to explore São Miguel’s most breathtaking landscapes, where dramatic coastlines, lush greenery, and sweeping vistas unfold around every turn. Along the way, we’ll visit Europe’s oldest tea plantation, where you’ll have the chance to sip a freshly brewed cup surrounded by rolling fields of green.
As the day continues, there will be time to slow down and soak in one of the Azores’ most beloved natural treasures, its geothermal hot springs, an experience that is as relaxing as it is unforgettable.
We’ll also take in the striking beauty of the iconic islet just off the coast, a true symbol of the island’s unique volcanic landscape, before ending the day with a taste of another local specialty at a traditional pineapple plantation.
It’s a day designed to immerse you in the essence of the Azores, balancing exploration, relaxation, and moments you’ll carry with you long after you return home.
Day Three - August 28Chasing Waterfalls
This morning is designed for those ready to embrace a high-energy, unforgettable experience. We’ll venture into the heart of the Azorean forest, where lush landscapes and hidden waterfalls set the stage for an incredible adventure.

After an adrenaline-filled morning, the afternoon is yours to slow the pace. Wander through town, browse for meaningful souvenirs, capture a few more photos, or simply settle in at a café and enjoy the flavors of the Azores at your leisure.
It’s the perfect balance of adventure and ease, leaving you both energized and refreshed.
Day Four - August 29Ocean Wonders
Today, we experience the island from a new perspective - out on the water. We’ll set off along the coast aboard a glass-bottom boat, offering a unique window into the vibrant marine life below.
With insights from a local expert, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the diverse ecosystem that surrounds the Azores—from seabirds above to the fascinating creatures beneath the surface. For those who wish, there will be time to slip into the water, cool off, and snorkel in this protected area, discovering even more of what lies beneath.
As our journey together comes to a close, we’ll gather for one final shared meal. It’s a moment to reflect on the experiences we’ve had, the connections we’ve made, and the memories that will stay with us long after we’ve returned home—perhaps even sparking plans for the next adventure.
Day Five - August 30Joyful Departure
Our final day is intentionally left unstructured, an opportunity to slow down and savor the last moments of your journey.
